Deborah Cain
Jim Craig, the current district 8 representative claims he's not anti-science, but it's hard to tell from his behavior. His record has improved recently, but he is by no means the strong leader District 8 needs on the Board.
His competitor, Deborah Cain, has indicated strong support for good science education. She is a retired teacher, and president of Lake Local School Board in Stark County. Cain's website: www.debcainforohio.com/
Cain she is a proponent of intervention for at-risk students as early as pre-K to first grade. “We need to look at getting tutors involved or having smaller class sizes if that’s the issue,” She also thinks many students should have access to all-day kindergarten. She wants to develop curriculum that will let our students compete at a global level.
Cain has 31 years experience as a teacher, from first grade to high school. She has the classroom and administrative experience necessary and the drive and committment needed to bring Ohio schools into the 21st century.
